“Do Not Disturb” (2021)
A trek to nowhere. All the work, to do nothing. Crackling of wood. Campfire aroma that will linger beyond return to the mundane.
Painting this piece took some time because I craved to be back camping each session I worked on it. Emphasizing the contrast of the sunset sky, shadowed mountains, piercing river, and glowing fire - brings attention to my favorite campsite moments. Exchanging the rat-race for the race against sunset, the grounding into Mother Nature, and tapping into primal instincts for warmth and cooking. I love being able to connect with the Earth and leave the bustle behind. This piece highlights these joys and definitely urges you to plan the next adventure.
